Democrats representing precincts within House District 45 will convene Sunday, December 8th, at 7:00 p.m. to nominate three to five Democrats to replace state Representative Michael Dembrow, D-Portland. Multnomah County commissioners will appoint one of those nominees to be Representative Dembrow's replacement. Immediately preceding the Convention there will be a Candidates Debate, beginning at 5:45 p.m.
Representative Dembrow was appointed to represent Senate District 23, and took office on November 20th.
The convention and debate will be held at Multnomah County Democrats' Headquarters, 3551 NE Sandy Blvd., Portland, OR 97232. [map]

Are you interested in becoming a candidate for this position?
People who wish to be considered for state representative must file form SEL145, a Statement of Nominee's Willingness to Serve, with the Democratic Party of Oregon. The filing deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013. Forms may be sent by mail (232 NE 9th, Portland 97232), or by fax (503 224-5335). If the form does not reach the DPO office in time, that person's candidacy cannot be considered.
Prospective candidates must meet the minimum requirements to hold the office. Those include living in the district for at least one year, being a registered Democrat for at least 180 days before the effective date of the resignation, and not being under the supervision of the Department of Corrections.
