Last night at our Central Committee meeting I officially announced my resignation as chair of the Multnomah County Democrats. This was not an easy decision; however, Representative Jules Bailey's announcement that he will seek election to the County Board of Commissioners presents an opportunity for me to run for State Representative for House District 42 in inner Southeast and Northeast Portland.
MultDems is on a great trajectory. We had an amazingly successful Celsi event and the best Golf Tournament yet. We staffed booths at more fairs and parades this summer than ever. Elected officials are more engaged with us, and this is important because our interest in making people's lives better doesn't end with elections. Our officers are constantly improving how we accomplish all the crucial hard work that goes on mostly behind the scenes. Our new Multnomah Democrats' headquarters promises to become a hub for political action in the county for years to come. This momentum will be a tremendous asset as we head into 2014 and beyond.
The process for electing a Chair for the rest of this term of office will be described in the next post. In the meantime, Our capable First Vice Chair, Lorraine VanHoe, will serve as Acting Chair.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make all this possible, and worked so hard to elect Democrats with progressive values. Together we make a difference.
See you in the neighborhood,
Teddy Keizer
